A note of thanks
To All the Birkhead for Sheriff Volunteers,
I want to take the time to say thank you to all of you for volunteering to assist with my campaign for Sheriff. Whatever your contribution - passing out literature, hosting an event or, posting signs - I could not have done as well as I did without your efforts
Although we may have come up a bit short of our goal of winning, I believe the message has been sent that change is needed in our Sheriff’s Office and the challenge has been made. You should feel proud that each of you helped send that message.
Please know that this is not the end, but simply a new beginning and a new direction. Stay tuned as I seek new ways to serve.

Why I decided to run for sheriff
Orange County needs a sheriff who reflects its people and values.
Clarence Birkhead will be a progressive sheriff for a progressive county.
My Vision for the Orange County's Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff's Office is responsible for Defending the Rights, Protecting the Property, and Strengthening the Quality of Life of all Orange County citizens. We will do this by:
- Serving the needs of all county residents - from Cedar Grove and Caldwell to White Cross and Kings Mill, residents and visitors, young and old.
- Increasing cooperation with citizens, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, academic institutions, and cultural organizations.
- Adopting proven. modern policing strategies, professional development, training, and administrative practices to prevent and combat crime, promote social justice, and serve and protect all people.
